Where is your heart?

Mark 13:22-24 (NLT)  22For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform miraculous signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones.  23Watch out! I have warned you! 24"At that time, after those horrible days end ….

I am sure some of you will get on my case about talking about the end days.   Others will condemn me saying "to not touch God's anointed"  But, this old pastor has been called by the Lord to be a watchman and when I have seen enough the Lord lays it upon my heart to tell it like it is,  whether some like it or not.     My friends in these days of darkness and evil we must guard our hearts.   I see several movements of the darkness that worry me.   They do not worry me because of their existence but because they are sucking so many in.  The word of God has every answer we need!  We do not need to go in search of a new thing or a new feeling.  We need to get back to the basics and do the will of our Father in heaven and that will is to reach a lost and dying world.   Not following self serving false men and woman of God.   I must ask what has happened to following the Word of God.  1 John 4:1 (NLT) 1Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.   When Jesus spoke of the end days He gave us several clues.  One was that the end times would come upon us like birth pains.  If you have ever been around a women during that time you know that the birth pains start out slow and accelerate until the child is born.  One of the other clues that Jesus spoke of is today's verse.  Mark 13:22-24 (NLT)  22For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform miraculous signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones.  23Watch out! I have warned you! 24"At that time, after those horrible days end ….  Have you noticed that in the last 100 years the number of false prophets and even the number of those claiming to be Christ has exponentially accelerated?  But, what worries or should I say saddens me the most is the number of people following them.  If anyone would do the research one would find that they are all connected.   Each new "Great" man of god (notice small "g") is just a more corrupt extension of the last.
Since I have returned from the revival in Washington state I cannot count how many e-mails I have gotten from people about the latest new "great" man of god,  Todd Bentley.    Now, the only reason I am even taking the time to expound upon this person is because of the great amount of people that are blindly following him without even taking the time to ask a few questions.   Jesus said it best as always; Matthew 7:21-23 (NASB) 21
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.  22"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.'   Do you ever take the time to wonder who these people are?  These are the false prophets that will come in the end days.   Matthew 7:15-16 (NLT)15"Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are really wolves that will tear you apart. 16You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You don't pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles.   Now I do try to keep about my Fathers business in these latter days and that is bringing the lost sheep into the fold.   It is not running a self-serving ministry.   What you say? Just take a quick review of the incomes of the major later day prophets of God.   Every one of they have made themselves rich off the blind sheep that are following them.  Every one of them has taught their sheep that God wants to bless them beyond anyone's dreams.  You explain to me where in the Bible my God tells us He wants to make his workers millionaires off the poor widows and followers of His Son Jesus.  Benny Hinn's own brother tells the story of the joy in Benny's eyes after a revival when he realized he had gotten an old widows' last $5.   Paul tells us that a pastor deserves to be worthy of his wages for his work.  Paul does not tell us that a worker for Christ should be wealthy beyond his dreams.  Hello! People Paul had to work as a tent maker to make ends meet.
But the deepest harm I see is how many people are so desperate for a "NEW" thing that they are following every wind of doctrine and new "revival" without even asking the honest question "Is it of God?"   My friends, please, please get back to the basics of God's word.  Test all these lying signs and wonders against God's Holy word!   No I am not on a "get" Mr. Bentley rant and rage.  He just happens to be the latest of a long run.  My wife asked me to watch a segment of his revival on God television.  I only had to watch a few minutes for the Holy Spirit in me to tell me "this is not of God!"  But, more than that I could see that Mr. Bentley had taken the last 40 years of false teachings and manifestations and put them all together.  I could see Pastor Hinn, Kathryn Kuhlman, Kenneth Hagin, Bob Jones, Paul Cain, Rick Warren  and many others rolled into one new " Super Star" and I saw people as I said blindly following this fellow.
I could write a masters thesis on the false teachings, signs and problems with this gentleman but all one has to do is do a Google search and find thousands of hits from discerning  Christians. So I am going to give just one example from Mr. Bentley's own words.  This is a transcript taken from one of his distributed videos about his ministry.  "
I am thinking why is the power of God not moving and he (by he Mr. Bentley is referring to God.)  said it is because you haven't kicked that women in the face and there was like this older lady worshiping right in front of the platform and the Holy Spirit spoke to me and the gift of faith came on me He said …kick her in the face…with your biker boot. I inched closer and I went like this (makes kicking motion) BAM and as my boot made contact with her nose she fell under the power of God…. " "….And I saw him and the gift of faith came on me and I said what do I do God? And God told me to just run em down- so I jumped up in the air and I went BAM and I hit him to the ground, jumped on to him and got into a full mount-ground and pound- I jumped on him and I was in a full mount and something came over me and instead of punching him I grabbed him by the neck and started choking him (makes choking motions) and I said come out of him devil… come out of him devil.
And I was in another meeting one time and I called out this Chinese gentlemen and all of a sudden I went running down the isle and I hit this guy so hard it drove him back several feet -he hit the ground and his tooth popped right out of his mouth…."

I would like one of those who defend this type of behavior to explain to me how this glorifies God and how this will bring the heathen into the body of Christ.  I cannot speak for the average Joe or Jane heathen but if I walked into a meeting and some so called man of God was drop kicking the saints to bring on the power of God, I would either run for safe ground or believe that I had accidentally walked into a wrestling match.   If you my friend's see the love of Jesus in these events then follow this man.   As for me and my family we will follow the Lord.  Matthew 7:21-23 (NASB) 21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.  22"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.'    Jesus made it plain and clear that in the end days there would be many who would come in His name and have false signs and wonders and be straight from the pits of Hell with one and only one purpose.  That purpose is to side track Christians from bringing a lost and dying world to the only true hope.
It is so easy to get caught up in all the devils whistles and bells.  But, only if we do not  keep our eyes on Jesus and the Cross.  We must be about our Fathers will.  That will is to reach a lost and dying world with the only hope that will matter when they close their eyes for the last time.  It is not to follow every wind of doctrine or every new circus sideshow.  It is not to get that good feeling from the latest prophet of god.  It is not to be more concerned about sowing our seed so we can meet our need.  It is to reach everyone we can while we still have time.   It does not matter if Jesus returns tomorrow or 100 years from now.  Each one of us is allotted a certain amount of time on this earth and we must use it for Jesus if we wear His name, Christian.   In a recent personal mini survey of Christians conducted 90% of the respondents indicated that they had never personally lead someone to Christ in their lifetimes.   Yes, we are to allow the working of the Holy Spirit to bring people to the Lord.  But, if we do not even get out into our community and tell people of what Jesus has done for us how can the Spirit lead them the rest of the way.  The recent Barna report on evangelical beliefs in mainline churches is almost too excruciating to read. The study's findings identify an alarmingly high number of church members whose beliefs fall far short of true Christianity. For example, 41 percent of all adults surveyed believed in the total accuracy of the Bible. Only 40 percent of those surveyed believed Christ was sinless, while 27 percent believed Satan to be real

My, friends the time is short and we must get back to basics.  We must be discerning and not get side tracked by all the false doctrines and false prophets that dot our land.   Following Todd Bentley, Benny Hinn, Paul and Jan Crouch,  Bob Jones, Marlin Hickey, Joyce Meyers, Kenneth Copland, Rick Joyner, Rick Warren, Ken Clement, Fredrick K. Price, Kenneth Hagen,  etc. will not get you into heaven.   Jesus said it.
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.  What is the Fathers will? Bringing souls to His open arms through Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior of the world.
I will leave you with Joseph Chambers words:
"In the Book of Revelation the great God saw this day coming and announced His plan, "Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.  Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth"  (Revelation 3:9-10).
Please notice that this appears to happen right before the Rapture.  The religious facade will be accountable to truth.  The Remnant Saints, who refuse to bow or bend, will be acknowledged by this unholy mixture.  No one that I have ever met can hate you quite like this Charismatic crowd.  Their love is giddy sweet when they woo you and as bitter as hell when you reject them.  A large number of good saints have testified of the hate and rejection they received when they refused to submit to this error.  This is why the Bible-believing saints will be the great company that error will be required to face and to whom they will be required to confess their departure from truth."

I cannot say if Pastor Chambers is correct in his interpretation but I know that many "good" Christians will lash out at this old pastor for having the gall to attack their "mighty men and women" of God.  Maybe instead of using that energy to lash out at those who disagree with the false prophets and doctrines you would be better off my friends to use that energy to get back the basics of the Word of God,  back in the arms of Jesus and back to being about the Fathers business and tell a few souls about Jesus and why they need Him not why they need Todd Bentley.
God Bless and praying you will really test these spirits.
